Story of Ngoga Innocent Patrick

From Clay Floors to Code: Ama’s Journey into Tech

Ngoga Innocent grew up in a remote village in the Northern Province of Rwanda. The youngest of five children, Innocent spent most of his early years helping his mother with farming and looking after goats. There was no electricity at home, and the nearest school was a long walk away. Dreams of a better future seemed distant — until Share Urumuri stepped in. When our team first met Innocent, he was quiet, humble, and full of potential. He had never touched a computer, but he had a deep curiosity about how things work. After assessing his needs, we offered him a full scholarship, including school fees, materials, and boarding at a local secondary school that had a basic computer lab. Innocent quickly stood out for his discipline and drive. He used every opportunity to learn, and through a local partnership, he joined weekend workshops in Kigali that introduced him to web design and coding. By Senior Five, he had built his first personal blog using HTML and CSS — entirely self-taught. Now, at just 20 years old, Ngoga Innocent is interning with a Rwandan software startup while pursuing a diploma in Computer Engineering. He hopes to return to his village to teach ICT to children who, like him, never imagined touching a laptop. In his words: “Share Urumuri opened a door I never knew existed. I want to be that door for others.” Ngoga’s story is proof that talent lives everywhere — it simply needs a chance to shine. Thanks to your continued support, we’re not just changing one life — we’re nurturing leaders who will transform communities. Keep sharing the light. Keep changing the future
